About Michael Goedhuis
Michael Goedhuis combines expertise in art history, economics, and investment banking, making him a distinguished figure in the global art market. After earning degrees from the Courtauld Institute and INSEAD, he began his career in finance before joining Colnaghi, where he specialized in Persian, Mughal, and Islamic art—placing major collections with institutions such as the Smithsonian and the Shahbanu of Iran.
Expanding his focus to Indian, Japanese, and Chinese antiquities, Goedhuis also contributed as a journalist for The Economist and other art publications. In the early 1990s, he pioneered the Western market for modern and contemporary Chinese art, curating groundbreaking exhibitions, including China Without Borders at Sotheby’s New York (2001). His work with the Estella Collection in 2008, showcased at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art and the Israel Museum, further cemented his influence.
Today, Goedhuis is dedicated to highlighting the cultural resurgence in China, championing contemporary Chinese ink art, and representing a new generation of both Eastern and Western artists across painting, sculpture, and design.
